How to get contact lenses and where?

  1. Eye TestingFirstly you need to go to an optometrist for a thorough eye examination which will tell you the extent of defect in your vision and if you are able to wear contact lenses.  If you have particularly sensitive eyes or difficult optical requirements then contacts may not suit you.
  2. The optometrist will ask you questions on your lifestyle, sporting activities etc and then decide which kind of contacts are best suited for you, for eg. soft, or semi-rigid or disposable.
  3. You will be given a trial pack of lenses initially and shown how to insert them and care for them. Depending on the type you get, you can wear them, throw them away then replace them on a monthly, weekly or even daily basis.
  4. After getting your lenses, you must take care of them and go for frequent check ups to the optometrist. The lens need plenty of lens care including cleaning, rinsing, disinfecting, and storing the lenses to keep them clean, comfortable and free from bacteria.

The contact lenses can be acquired from several places:

  1. Eye doctor
  2. Optical Chains or regional eye care practices
  3. Mass Merchandisers –stores having their own optical departments
  4. Online retailers
